Teacher: Rebecca (Becky) Gipson, teaches (at least) 6th, 7th grade science.
- Working with 6th graders on planets, etc now.
- Testing is in March, so 7th graders have done it.
- 6th grade class: M-Th, 11:40-12:30.
- 7th grade classes: M-Th 1:30 - 2:20, and 2:20 - 3:00
- Computer lab: Dell computers, older. Might not have programs. Administration can install programs, and they are supportive of "anything educational."
- Specific items in the learning standards? "Standards are broad, flexible." Can also be cross-categorical.
- She wants to know dates. I said 2 or 3 weeks. One possibility: May 28, but they may have a field trip. Otherwise June 2.
- What extent of testing?
- Can do developmental playtesting.
- But what's really important is testing of learning.
- Testing in the fall?
What were the main points?
My issues:
- Side issue: iPhone games class?
- Multiple "computers."
- Dealing with tester frustration.
- Weird issue with digital divide: Did they do paper so much that their designs were less digital friendly?
- How familiar were the testers with iPhone, games, etc.?
- A second round of paper prototyping for our project?
